Karachi: Millions of Pakistanis offered Easter prayers in Churches under very tight security after administration claimed that plan to attack Churches in Lahore was foiled encountering terrorists in a hideout.
The police was deployed in front of Churches in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar and other cities of Pakistan where worshipers gathered.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif in his message on the eve of Easter extended his felicitations to the Christian brethren and said that protection of all minorities living in Pakistan is moral and constitutional responsibility of the government. He assured all minorities, including Christians, that Pakistan belongs to everyone and stressed that the country’s prosperity and peace lie in unity. He also appreciated the role of the Christian community in achieving national objectives.
Earlier, Pakistan Security Forces said that terrorists were planning to launch a major terrorist attack during Easter celebrations in Lahore.
