LAHORE: (Christian Times) – Founder of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Naffaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM) (Lit: Movement for the Implementation of the Prophet’s Law) Sufi Mohammad, who was recently released on bail by Peshawar High Court has stated on Sunday that killing ‘infidel’ women and children was not allowed in Islam.

Sufi Mohammad went on to state that fighting Pakistan army was also ‘haram’ and claimed that had there been no army, Pakistan would have dismembered a long time ago. “Pakistan army soldiers are ‘mujahideen’ for us and they are the ones who brought peace to the country”, he said.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Sufi Mohammad said that killing women and children was ‘haram’ even if they don’t believe in Islam and thus the terrorists who perpetrated the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar massacre were worse than infidels. Talking about his son-in-law, Sufi Mohammad said that Mullah Fazlullah had contacted Taliban and joined their league but the founder of TNSM had declared them ‘worse than Khawarij’ in his will.

He added that Fazlullah had caused more damage to Islam than the enemies of Islam. “The worst thing he did was to me as he along with his aides ended my movement. He deserves nothing but death”, he said.

Opposing the attack on Nobel Peace Laureate Malala Yousufzai, Sufi Mohammad said that he was in jail when that attack was carried out but it should never have happened. “I am not against girls’ education and consider the attacks on educational institutions as ‘haram’. Seeking knowledge is a duty of every Muslim, man or woman”, he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the TNSM founder was released on bail by Peshawar High Court in cases pertaining controversial speeches and attacks on police.
